Your Impact

You helped ensure every Alliance scholar had the resources they need to continue on the path to college. We achieved our goal to provide every scholar with access to internet services. Thanks to several generous Alliance supporters we raised nearly $200,000 for this campaign.

Alliance schools are a second home where scholars and families feel supported and welcome. Access to technology not only provides crucial academic support, but also much-needed access to counselors and school psychologists who are helping scholars navigate trauma caused by the pandemic.

About the Campaign

Inequities across American public schools have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The lack of access to technology and high-speed internet threatens to derail educational opportunities for our most vulnerable scholars.

Amid this unprecedented public health crisis, our commitment to Alliance scholar success has never wavered. We bridged the digital divide – ensuring continuous learning for our scholars and supporting them on the path to college. When the pandemic hit, we distributed laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets to all of our scholars and began to secure internet services for families who did not have it. As a result, Alliance scholars maintained a daily attendance rate of 94% during remote distance learning — comparable to pre-pandemic rates.

As we approached the 2020-21 school year,  and with the end of the pandemic nowhere in sight, we needed to make sure our scholars were ready to go on the first day of school and did not miss a minute of instruction. Unfortunately, short-term,  complimentary internet access was discontinued for an estimated 800 low-income Alliance scholars over the summer. We set out to close that gap and purchase WiFi hotspots with data plans for scholars losing service. For most of us, online access is a given. For our Alliance scholars, internet access is a lifeline to their future.

Thank You
